Abstract:
Drawing on self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management, the authors connect emotional intelligence to teaching, assessment, mentoring, departmental collaboration and institutional change to argue that emotional intelligence does not replace expertise, standards or accountability; it enables these to be exercised with fairness, clarity and respect.
