You're the Reason You're Stuck!

  • 3 min read

Not your team. Not your system. Not your workload.

You.

I know that’s not what you want to hear.

Because it’s easier, more comfortable to believe:

  • If my team were stronger…

  • If the system worked better…

  • If I just had more time…

But let me tell you what I see every single time I work with a high-performing woman in leadership:

You didn’t get stuck because you’re not capable. You got stuck because what made you successful… is now the very thing holding you back.

You built your reputation on being the one who:

  • Steps in

  • Figures it out

  • Gets it done

  • Holds it all together

And it worked. Until it didn’t.

Because now? You’re not just leading the work…

You’re carrying the work.

And here’s the part most people miss:

No one asked you to carry all of this. You trained them to let you.

Every time you:

  • Answer the question they could have figured out

  • Fix the problem they should have owned

  • Follow up on something they said they’d handle

You reinforce one message: Give it to me. I’ll take it from here.

And your team?

They adjust accordingly.

Not because they’re incapable. But because you’ve made it unnecessary for them to step up.

This is where high performers stall. Not from lack of effort. From misapplied excellence. You are performing at a high level… …but in the wrong areas.

Let’s be clear;

High performance is not:

  • Being the most reliable

  • Being the fastest responder

  • Being the one everyone depends on

That’s how you become indispensable to the work…

and invisible for advancement.

Real high performance looks different.

It looks like:

  • Holding the line when it would be easier to step in

  • Asking the question instead of giving the answer

  • Letting things be uncomfortable long enough for others to grow

  • Deciding what deserves your energy and what doesn’t

Here’s one shift you can start today,

Before you respond, fix, or step in…

Pause and ask:

"What happens if I don’t take this on?"

Not emotionally. Not reactively. Strategically.

Because the answer is almost always this:

Someone else figures it out.

Or they don’t… and now you finally see where the real gap is.

Either way?

You’re leading at the right level.

The hard truth?

You don’t need to work harder. You need to stop rescuing.

And that will feel uncomfortable.

Because your identity has been built on being the one who can handle it.

But the next level of leadership?

Requires you to become the one who doesn’t have to.

So if you’re feeling stuck right now… It’s not because you’re not doing enough. It’s because you’re doing too much of what no longer serves you.

And until that changes…

Nothing else will.

If this hit a nerve, it was supposed to.

You don’t need another tip.

You need a shift in how you lead, decide, and show up under pressure.

Message me SHIFT if you’re ready for that level.

Or sit with this question:

What am I still doing… that I should have let go of a long time ago?

Think Clearly. Act Boldly. Lead Differently!
