Abstract:
We don’t view teachers as viable leaders because they don’t wield positional authority over others, so we don’t typically treat them as leaders and grant them leadership status. But there are many ways that teachers lead while maintaining their teaching duties, with boots on the ground, the ears of the people, and the street cred to influence their peers. So, how do we leverage our expert teachers’ skills, knowledge, and impact in a leadership capacity while keeping them predominantly in the classroom…and compensating them fairly for it?
