Serenity Moore is an innovative educational leader and instructional coach with a deep passion for equity and elevating anti-racism to ensure student outcomes. She has over 20 years of experience serving students and families from under resourced communities. She has a B.S in Biology from Hampton University and a Masters in Secondary Education from The George Washington University. She is currently in the final last phase of earning her doctoral degree. In addition, she is a National Board Certified Teacher.  Serenity began her career as a high school science teacher, where she had the privilege of teaching students who spoke multiple languages and students who had special learning needs. She worked tirelessly to meet the needs of her diverse student body. Soon, Serenity was promoted to lead the science department as the Resource Teacher.  She served in that role for over eight years. During this time, she had the opportunity to improve science instruction and she made significant contributions to improving the structures and policies of her school.  Following this school level leadership experience, Serenity had the opportunity to coach both novice and underperforming teachers in her role as Consulting Teacher. After her three year rotation was completed as a Consulting Teacher, Serenity went on to serve as the Co-lead of the Consulting Teacher team, where she shifted the foundational structures of the team to ensure equitable and anti-racist practices and learning were at the core of this team’s programming.  She partnered with local educational equity leaders to ensure the structures, policies and procedures of the Consulting Teacher team were elevated to ensure all students had access to highly effective teachers who not only understood the importance of equity but were working to provide an inclusive experience for all students. For one year, Serenity served as the instructional specialist for the Title IIA grant in her district.  In this role, she provided non-public schools with feedback and guidance on the professional development programs they were designing for teachers. She analyzed data and determined the appropriateness of their requests.  Currently, she is serving as the Coordinator for Onboarding and Induction for a large school district in Maryland, where she is responsible for creating a sustained culturally responsive professional development program for all three unions of her district.  In addition, Serenity is an in-district trainer and adjunct professor for Fitchburg State University. She teaches two graduate level courses that are certified by Research for Better Teaching.  The first course she teaches is titled “Studying Skillful Teaching I” and the second course she teaches is titled “Observing and Analyzing Teaching I.”

As an anti-racist educator, Serenity has played a significant role in propelling her department and the school system forward in ensuring that all students have access to classrooms that are safe, equitable and being led by a highly effective culturally responsive teacher. Serenity co-wrote and managed the implementation of the Teacher Induction, Retention and Advancement (T.I.R.A) grant.  This 5 year T.I.R.A grant was focused on specifically supporting and retaining elementary teachers in Title I schools. This innovative program provided teachers with a 20% increase in planning time that could be used to observe colleagues, analyze student learning trends, plan, reflect on practices, etc.  Each year the teacher retention data indicated the effectiveness of the program that she managed with a team of colleagues.  In addition, she co-wrote the  Maryland Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (G.E.E.R) Fund grant that focused on elevating induction and onboarding support for highly impacted schools in the post-pandemic era to ensure both student learning outcomes are met and highly skilled staff are retained.  The G.E.E.R grant will focus on how staff can more effectively be developed in all three unions with the skills to ensure that learning is accelerated to ensure that all students meet their annual learning outcomes. Finally, Serenity served as a steering committee member and facilitator for The Maryland PDS Project 2025.  This was a collaborative  grant between Montgomery County Public Schools, Prince George's County Public Schools and The University of Maryland College Park. This grant focused on the teacher career ladder, improving professional learning and enhancing the student teaching experience through raising the capacity of teachers and mentors through professional development opportunities.

Serenity Moore is a collaborative leader who intentionally works to create proactive change and leads by building authentic relationships with colleagues to ensure that students are provided access to school level and district level leaders who have the capacity to positively impact student learning outcomes.

Serenity Moore loves spending time with her family and friends.  She devotes significant time to working to uplift her community.  She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and strives to uphold the principles of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
