December is Remembrance Month at The Worthy Educator!
I had a hideous paper route in 6th grade - 70 Boston Heralds, 7 days a week…and all for $11/week in 1978.

I used to traipse up and down the hallways of big apartment buildings in Brookline MA. One near Christmas morning I was doing my rounds when I heard a faint “Help…” come from behind on of the doors. I knocked and knocked but all I got was the call for help. So I ran up and down the hallways knocking on everyone’s door until somebody called the emergency folks.

Turns out the woman had fallen 3 days earlier but couldn’t move. She had some broken bones and was dehydrated but she made a full recovery.
Also turns out the woman was one of my 6th grade classmate's grandmother. Her family sent me a thank you card with $5 (hey that’s like $25 now).
As the Boston Herald article said about this story:

That’s the story.
Happy Holidays to one and all!

Peter Badalament is the mild-mannered Principal, of the A.R. Gould School in South Portland, Maine where he attempts to conceal his secret identity as a life-saving super hero and his storied career as a former paperboy! All of this, of course, has become more challenging with the disappearance of phone booths on most street corners. If you need his help saving the day, you can find him here online or email him here.
